I love to watch NFL football, especially the Chicago Bears. I also watch and consume the shows that are NFL related like HBO's Hard Knocks and Good Morning Football on the NFL network station. For the most part, I find these shows entertaining and informative and they satisfy my cursory involvement in what's going on in the league.
Lately, though I have found that there is a lot of discussion by the hosts or guests of the shows about what to do with the Black Lives Matter movement and how they can best use their platform to support it. This discussion is lively and brings up a good point about how to get involved in a way that will truly bring about positive change for all of us.
Some teams have protested by halting their team practices or scrimmages and some teams developed a statement with specific requests for action.
From what I can see there have been a lot of people and or fans who are supportive and others who are not. This is a free will society so everyone gets to voice their opinion. And there are a lot of opinions to see or hear and some you may agree with and some you won't.
I hope that we all as a society can come to a common ground and leave the fear of the unknown out of the immediate reaction equation for a moment. Fear isn't bad, it's just one emotion.
And if you are being chased by a bear in the woods it comes in handy to help your body move out of a difficult situation. To grow as a person, we need to be with the feeling of fear and the fear of the unknown in order for us to have thoes uncomfortable feelings so that we can get clearer on what aligns to our true selves. If you just react to things you fear you not looking at why you feel it. You just have an immidiate response and nothing more.
If you want to learn how to expand your consciousness then you must learn that it is directly related to how you respond to given situation. The first step in grasping what this means is that you must first understand what it is that you are really afraid of. You can do this by making a list, meditate on it or just have a discussion with a close friend or partner. The point is, most of us would be surprised to learn what it is we are truly afraid of. And when we bring that information to light we can determine if that is an old or trained thought or something entirely new. Either way you'll get a chance to learn about your feelings of fear and yourself as well as symotaniously allowing new expansion into your consciousness.
I'm not saying any of this is fun or easy but it seems to me to be better then running around and reacting to everything without any real knowing or understanding of how it makes you truly feel.
It's funny how I always viewed Football as an exciting sport to watch but never really thinking about the men who played it or what their experiences in life have been.
Now in 2020 I do think about them and I listen to what they have to say. These men have given me a gift beyound entertainment and I say, thank you.
