I support You
Recently, a friend told me his mother had stage three cancer. At this stage, the cancer has grown and has possibly spread to lymph nodes or other tissues. Her doctor recommended Chemotherapy (drug), Radiation (high-energy beams to kill cancer cells), and Immunotherapy (drugs to boost the immune system).
My friend is highly educated in nutrition and quantum energy (the power of thought). As a result, he encouraged his mother to seek an alternative plan for her cancer. However, he let his mother know that he would support her, no matter her decision. She chose the drug and radiation approach. Consequently, she is sick now with a declining overall quality of life.
As sad as this makes me feel, I reflect back to twenty-four years ago when my mother died of breast cancer. She, too, chose the traditional route of drug therapy and surgery. Her death was several months after the mastectomy.
Johnny D. Good
In the past, I wrote about John D. Rockefeller and his creation of the University of Chicago, the American Medical Association (A.M.A.), and the pharmaceutical industry (read blog here).
Moreover, I discuss how he created an education and regulation system that supported drug therapy as the significant cure choice for physicians in the U.S.
Ladies & Gentlemen, The Cure
So, how has this drug-based healthcare approach worked concerning cancer? According to the American Cancer Society, the overall cure rate for cancer in the United States is about 60%. Therefore, about 60% of cancer patients will be alive five years after diagnosis. However, the cure rate for specific types of cancer can be much higher or lower.
Here are some examples of cure rates for specific types of cancer with Chemotherapy:
- Childhood leukemia: 90%
- Testicular cancer: 95%
- Localized breast cancer: 90%
- Stage III colon cancer: 60%
- Stage IV lung cancer: 5%
The American Cancer Society (A.C.S.) provided this information as a side note.
Who's Winning the Fight?
Corporations that currently fund/support the A.C.S. in order of donation are:
- AbbVie
- Amgen
- Bristol Myers Squibb
- CVS Health
- Eli Lilly and Company
- Johnson & Johnson
- Merck & Co.
- Pfizer
- Quest Diagnostics
- UnitedHealth Group
- Walgreens Boots Alliance
According to the American Cancer Society's 2021-2022 Annual Report, the organization brought in $11.3 billion in revenue in that fiscal year.
Meanwhile, the United States ranks 15th out of 28 developed countries for overall cancer survival rates. The leading countries are:
- Iceland
- Israel
- Australia
- Finland
- Italy
- Sweden
- Denmark
- Canada
- Norway
- Netherlands
- Switzerland
Can I get some Help?
What do the leading countries do better than the U.S.? First, Universal healthcare is the key. As a result, countries with universal healthcare systems ensure that all citizens have access to affordable cancer care, regardless of their income or employment status. Most importantly, this is in contrast to the United States, where many people do not have health insurance and may be unable to afford cancer care.
Second, a robust public health infrastructure is essential. Countries with strong public health systems promote healthy lifestyles and reduce cancer risk factors—programs designed to teach people about reducing smoking, the effects of obesity, and exposure to carcinogenic food sources.
Finally, providing people with access to the latest cancer treatments. Countries with the best cancer survival rates can access the latest and most effective cancer treatment plans. In part due to their strong public health systems, which support research and development of new cancer treatments. And not all treatments are expensive. In many cases, the types of food you eat are just as effective as drug therapy.
There is no silver bullet to health. However, there are more alternatives to curing cancer than traditional Chemotherapy. One man figured this out many years ago.
A Man for the People
Dr. Max Gerson (1881-1959) was a German-born American physician who developed the Gerson Therapy. Rooted in an organic, plant-based diet, raw juices, coffee enemas, and natural supplements, Gerson Therapy is said to restore the body's ability to heal itself. Moreover, Max proved he could cure cancer and most chronic, degenerative diseases.
Gerson was born in Wongrowitz, Germany, in 1881. He studied medicine at the University of Freiburg and began practicing medicine in Breslau (now Wrocław, Poland) in 1909. He specialized in internal medicine and nerve diseases and developed a reputation for treating tuberculosis and other degenerative diseases.
In the early 1920s, Gerson began experimenting with diet to treat his migraines. He developed a strict vegetarian diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in sodium. He also began using coffee enemas to detoxify the body.
Gerson's diet and enemas successfully treated his migraines, and he began to use them to treat other patients. In the 1930s, he treated Albert Schweitzer's wife, Helene, for tuberculosis with his diet and enemas. Helene Schweitzer fully recovered, and Schweitzer became a strong supporter of Gerson's work.
No Good deed
In 1933, Gerson fled Nazi Germany and moved to the United States. He continued to practice medicine and develop his dietary therapy. Meanwhile, during the 50s, Max began writing a book that contained 30-plus years of knowledge about food and curing all kinds of diseases, including cancer.
As a result, in 1953, Gerson's malpractice insurance was discontinued, and in 1958, his medical license in New York was suspended for two years. However, despite being poisoned with Arsenic, he published the book A Cancer Therapy: Results of 50 Cases on December 1, 1958, describing his treatment and presenting case studies of cancer patients with his therapy.
Unfortunately, Max was unable to survive another attempt on his life. Shortly after the book was published, Max died. The official autopsy report stated that Gerson died of pneumonia on March 8, 1959—only four months and seven days after his book hit the shelves.
Gerson's work was considered controversial by the A.M.A., and the medical establishment of the United States often criticized him. However, he continued to practice medicine and treat patients with his therapy until he died in 1959.
He will Live on
Gerson's daughter, Charlotte Gerson, continued her father's work and founded the Gerson Institute in San Diego, California. The Gerson Institute is a nonprofit organization providing education and support for people using the Gerson Therapy. According to Zippia, the nonprofit Gerson Institute's annual revenue is $66 million.
Gerson's life and work have been the subject of much debate. Many believe he was a brilliant doctor who developed a revolutionary cancer treatment based on identified results. The established medical community believes that his work is unscientific and dangerous. However, there is no doubt that Gerson pioneered alternative medicine, and his work continues to inspire people worldwide.
I did some basic research and found that the number of people diagnosed with cancer has been on the rise throughout the last century. Here is a quick look at the data:
- 1920s - 2.91 people out of 10 got cancer.
- 1950s - 2.91 people out of 10 got cancer.
- 1980s - 4.38 people out of 10 got cancer
- 2010s - 4.46 people out of 10 got cancer
- 2022s - 4.49 people out of 10 got cancer
As a result, the number of cancer cases has increased by more than 54% in the last century.
Don't follow the Money
Are we moving in the right direction for curing cancer? The amount of money created to cure this disease is staggering. Subsequently, over $265 billion was spent on cancer research and treatment in 2022 alone. In addition to the $11.3 billion the American Cancer Society received last year, taxpayers contributed $7.2 billion to The National Cancer Institute (NCI), the federal government's primary agency for cancer research.
Based on the data I have provided and Dr. Max Gerson's research, I believe there is more we can do to help those suffering from this insidious disease. In short, the choice is and has always been, yours to make. I wish you and your family great health.
